I for one feel really encouraged to be better and do better after I read one of your entries, regardless of whether you had a good day or a not-so-good day. Just the fact that you keep going with such a good attitude is motivation enough. It makes me want to start up a blog (maybe I'll hire your designing skills someday soon!) because it must be so nice to be so open with your blog friends. :-)

Running and eating. This week, I am bound and determined to eat better and run more. I am also meeting with a personal trainer, much to my public humiliation horror(who would have thought having 2 boys, 3 and 17months, I could be easily humilated!).

Everyday I make good food choices and work out is sending me one step closer to having the body I had sans children, 3+ years ago.

You are inspiring!

You posted some very thought provoking questions. I realize that I always look at what I did wrong, rather than what did I do today that was right. When I put the focus on the negative, I lose sight on my goals.

I really like you blog, it's very inspirational.

What I am doing this week that i will be proud about next week are as follows:

1. I am going to eat nothing but foods of nutritional value to me.
2. I am going to not spend money on frivolous items that will put me further in debt thus increasing the amount of next weeks pay cheque that i actually get to KEEP.
3. I will exercise a little bit each day so that if I've lost weight next time I weigh I will assume its from exercising and will be encouraged to increase my cardio etc.

4. I will try and adjust to the stupid time change so I feel more well rested at work next week.

Damn... your post made me weepy because I'm so darn frustrated with my (lack of) weight loss these days. I've been feeling tired of always thinking and planning and preparing when it seems to be getting me nowhere. The ONLY thing keeping me "in the game" is my sheer stubborness and the fact that I feel strong and healthy, so I know eating well and working out is serving at least SOME purpose.

My List is:
down another 60-80 lbs (exercising, making good food choices, investing in a Bodybugg, being responsive with health concerns and taking advantage of professional advice from doc, trainer, nutritionist)
be a published writer (blogging, taking time during the weekends to write, my notebook of ideas)
own my own home (starting to save specifically for this)
be in a happy, loving and committed relationship (enjoying my relationship with my bf, continually working on my communication skills, sharing my appreciation of him and what he does for me)
start my own family (um... not yet. Home and relationship come first!)
be a role model--someone who can have a decent career but also balance her personal life and commitment to lifelong health with that career (working on this through my daily commitment to weight loss, maximizing my time at work so I don't have to spend out of work time working, learning to delegate more, being clear about setting boundaries when it comes to my personal time, leaving some perfectionist tendancies behind)

I challenge you to share what's on your blog with the people who are close to you. I started sharing my feelings and experiences with my health and weight loss with my family, close friends, boyfriend and even some colleagues over the past year and I've found that my relationships with almost all of these people have become closer and more intimate because of it.

Enjoy your post-hike soreness--proof that you are committed to your health and fitness!

Lorrie,
Excellent post. I really agree about not really knowing much about other people from superficial conversation. Sometimes, if I want to really get to know someone, I'll say, "Tell me something that I don't know." And if they give me a generic answer I'll say, "tell me more...tell me how you are feeling." It's an interesting way to really get to know someone. I think we really only deeply know a few people in our lives and even they may keep their true feelings locked up because they are afraid to share them. So I totally know what you mean about using your blog to express what you are feeling.

This week I'm working out even when I feel lazy and just want to veg on the couch watching tv. My goal is to look at my muscles in the mirror next week and be proud of all the work I did this week.

I'm glad you are walking better! Thanks for the inspiring posts!
