Last week a heavy box was waiting on me when I got home and it was soup! The folks from Progresso contacted me about promoting their new line of soups (most under 100 calories) along with their "Souper You Debut". I am really excited about the Progresso mug, which is not plastic (yay) and trying out their new, no MSG soups.
I'll admit that most canned soups hold no interest to me. Growing up I remember telling my mom we had nothing to eat in the house and she'd always respond "there's always peanut butter and jelly and SOUP". Bah. I like homemade soups, chili, stews etc. but sometimes in a pinch it's nice to just open a can. You know what the calories are, you know the ingredients, and you know they lack MSG.
So far, I've had the minstrone and it's quite good!
Interested in winning your own mug, jump rope (which tracks jumps/calories) and a couple of cans of soup? I believe this contest is limited to the US, so please keep that in mind. All you have to do is leave a comment with your favorite soup memories growing up, or even your favorite soup. I will pick a comment at random and Progresso will get your package out. Note: Linking to this blog entry (and then showing me your blog entry with link in the comments) will grant you another entry into the contest. Please make sure to include your email address so that I can easily contact you. Contest ends January 19th 6pm EST, I will announce the winners on January 20th. Good luck!
Now, if you'd like to win a trip to NYC (who wouldn't?) Progresso is holding a “Souper You Debut” contest for the chance to win a full makeover in New York City.
Three grand prize winners will be awarded a trip for two to New York City from May 21st-23rd. The prize includes round trip airfare, a two-night stay in a NYC hotel, a full makeover, a $1,000 wardrobe shopping spree and personal consultation at a New York department store.

NYC here I you come!

I think I’m just highly amused at a calorie counting jump rope?
Nothing will ever beat a grilled cheese and tomato soup. So, I would have to say, my favorite soup from a can is tomato. Especially this time of year!
The best soup memory I have is when I attempted make home made chicken noodle soup…I am a terrible cook and let me just say a huge mess and two smoke alarms later we gave up and ate our soup out of the can the way god in his almighty wisdom intended. =)
This is probably a common one, but when I think of fond soup memories, I think of my mom feeding me chicken noodle soup or tomato soup when I was sick as a child. True comfort food!
Fun giveaway! I’ll post a blog post later for an extra entry too and will let you know.

This year I promised myself to learn to cook more and eat a lot healthier than I have in other years, but I’d agree with your point that sometimes it great to just open a can and put your feet up.
My dad makes soup all the time. Every kind he makes is delicious, but I especially love his chicken corn soup. Because of that, I am a bit of a soup snob, but I do love the Progresso Light soups, mainly because they already have the Weight Watchers points value on them (less work for me!)
That calorie counting jumprope sounds great! I don’t like jumproping, but that might motivate me!
I really don’t have any happy soup memories, but the new light pot roast flavor from Progresso always makes me happy because I know I am still on my diet and it is nooooo work to get my meal ready and it tastes good!
Okay, I wrote a post about this giveaway too for a second entry and linked back to your blog. See it here: http://makingoverme.blogspot.com/2010/01/progresso-souper-you-giveaway.html
Thanks!

When I was a kid I used to love when my gramma would make tomato soup and grilled cheese! My grandma always made her own soup, except for tomato…
I remember my mom serving chicken noodle soup with ice cubes and parmesan cheese when I was sick. Best soup memory!
I love pretty much any soup that has chicken in it (chicken noodle, chicken and rice, etc).
When I eat soup, I usually like to put lots of crackers in it to soak up all the broth. Usually it ends up not looking like soup at all (but more like a hotdish/cassarole).

I’m making memories now with Progresso. I LOVE their 0 Points soup (weight watchers). I make the soup and a 4 point panini and have a great lunch that fills me up so I can make it through a work out without getting hungry. I am so happy to have soup to eat when I have no points left in the day too. LOVE IT!
Progresso Soup was the first canned soup I liked as an adult. My former husband loved it and we always had a dozen cans in the cupboard. My favorite has always been the Chicken Rice. I love that they’re supporting healthy eating with exercise. It’s right in line with a book I highly recommend Obesity Free Forever by Georgene Collins, a former nurse who went from 182 pounds to 140 pounds and has kept the weight off.

I love this blog and I’ve become a soup addict lately! I never used to enjoy soup but it quickly became a staple food that helped me lose a lot of weight in college. Now I’m back on the soup bandwagon and enjoy little more than coming home from grad school, heating up some tomato soup, and curling up with a book.
I love this soup, both the Light and the High Fiber lines. They are perfect for filling snacks or to add to meals to add a lot of flavor without adding calories. I linked back to you on my blog :)!

*Ignore this if its a double post as I thought I left a comment yesterday, but I don’t see it
I recently found your blog and love reading it! Like you and many of your readers, I am trying to lose weight, and it is very helpful to read about others going through the same struggle.
I love soup, particularly in the colder months, and the Progresso soups are definitely some of the best ones out there. My favorites are probably the penne in chicken broth and the minestrone (not very original, I know), but I recently tried the Italian Wedding soup, and found that one to be really good, as well. I stocked up on a bunch of different Progresso varieties a couple of weeks ago because I had a coupon, so I’m looking forward to trying some new kinds. Soup is always a good option for lunch because it is low in calories.
As a kid, I mainly remember having Campbell’s chicken noodle soup and finding it pretty boring. Now there are loads of different brands and varieties, and I also enjoying making my own. I have definitely grown to love soup as I have gotten older.
Also, that jump rope looks so cool! I used to love jumping rope as a kid, but haven’t done it in years. Having one that can track calories and number of jumps would definitely inspire me to try it out again!
Hi! My favorite soup is Progresso Chicken Noodle! Boring I know but I always feel warm and comfy when I eat it.
My soup memories are all from being sick and having my mom make me yummy chicken noodle soup.
Ahhhha! I need to go to New York to catch the Tim Burton exhibit at the MOMA, and a Justice show at one of the bars, who knew my love for soup could do this for me!
I swear by the progressive soups. Most of my friends say they are too watery, but I always feel full after eating them. I love the chicken gumbo and the southwestern style, and light vegetable is just the way to go. Awesome post!
Hmm. When I think of soup I remember my grandma telling me when I was little that “soup is love because no matter who shows up on your door it only takes a little bit more water or milk to make them feel at home.” Of course at the time she was stirring a big ole pot of split pea and I was like, no problem, they can have mine!!
my favorite healthy soup is my own creation..i use a squash puree (butternut, pumpkin, whatever you have on hand) and mix with a cna of low sodium chicken broth and then throw in whatever protein i have, chicken or tofu..some s&p and garlic powder..quick and simple! =)
I LOVE soup! Warm, happy, it’s love in a bowl. Pick me!
Oh, oops. I totally forgot to put in my favorite type of soup. Sorry. Chicken Corn Chowder. Yummy!
the cold winter days were definitely filled with warm grilled cheese and tomato soup. yum! i purchased some of the new progresso the other day and think that might be dinner since i’m stuck inside during this noreaster’!
