8 Days Until My Wedding

Woah, getting married in eight days. Eight days until I marry my very favorite person in the whole world. Eight days until I do that in front of a lot of dear people and some we haven't seen in a very long time. The whole wedding thing is surreal to me, I'm marrying this person whom I met eight years ago and taking his last name. He was at one point a screen name. And now he is sleeping in the other room.

Me and Josh could go on and on about how weird things are. But, the truth is life in itself is really weird and that makes it cool too.

I didn't do my public weigh in although I've lost some weight. I think it would be nice to do a final pre-wedding weigh-in to cap off what I've been doing. I'm fluctuating a lot these days, I've been down to 267 and up to 275 and everywhere in between. I'm fine with that. And know what it takes to continue seeing the number go down.

Being in the mid-260's for the wedding would feel like an accomplishment, and a weight I could fly with a little less fear. It also reminds me of where I can continue to go through the summer. I've already started thinking of my summer weight loss goals and where I'd like to be in September. I think when we get back from London/Ireland (yay!!) I will start working on new blogher goals.

Thinking about being in the 250's for blogher is sooo exciting to me!

I haven't been perfect in this last week, I did a little stress eating and haven't exercised nearly as much as I would like. Those two things go hand in hand though. As the day gets closer I am looking at my to-do list which is filled with all the small details that will make our wedding day personal. The big stuff wasn't a problem. Have a dress made, buy a suit, get hair appointment scheduled, book a dj, find a photographer, schedule a place for the ceremony and reception. done, done and done.

Now, I'm left with stuff like favor boxes, the program, finishing corsages and boutonnieres, buying drinks, filling favor boxes, arranging flowers, coming up with a wedding play list, working on the ceremony schedule, making sure everyone knows the schedule of the day. My goal is to have everything in line by Wednesday so that I can spend the last few days before the wedding calm as a cucumber, or something like that!

It will be fabulous. No question.

A few days before our wedding - when I started freaking out about tuxes being wrong and the reception turning into a circus - my ever-calm Mother pulled me aside and reminded me what mattered. Nathan and I were getting married. As long as the two of us and the Minister were there, the rest was just details.

I can’t wait to be there!

Good luck managing everything for your wedding and keep us posted!
Last year I spent 2 weeks in ireland and be prepared for the lack of healthy eating options! Even salads were on the heavy side and fruit in the supermarket was so expensive! I felt literally greasy after that vacation!

  3. Tammara says:

Good luck Hun! You’re doing well… I’m getting excited for you. And I hope you enjoy the UK - it’s been a lovely home for me over the past 5 years and I can still remember how exciting it was to be here on vacation!

It will all be fine! You will be a beautiful bride, no matter what you weigh. And yes, what really matters is that you are making a public commitment to the man you love!

  5. The wedding will be great. You are going to be GORGEOUS. I fully expect to see lots of pictures. :)

  6. Ugh Ireland & England=Dream vacation!

I saw 267 for a hot second a week or so ago, and then the scale decided to be an ass and hasnt shown it to me again since. I hate the scale. I’m taking a vacation from it for 1 week (if I can.)

Enjoy every moment of the upcoming week :)

    Hi,
I stumbled upon your page by accident but I am so happy for you! I too am a big girl, I am trying this online dating thing. I did meet someone and the weird thing is that we get along. He is in Afghanistan now but we talk everyday via e-mail and phone. I was just having my doubts about the whole thing but after reading your first paragraph, I have more confidence in the process. Good Luck on accomplishing your weight loss goals and the wedding!

    HI,
I just wanted to tell you that I think you are gonna be a beautiful bride and I hope you relax enough to enjoy every single second of it without one thought to weight or weight loss…. as someone who has fought weight all my life… I am 50 now… one thing I wish I had done differently is take time to just have fun and enjoy every moment and not dwell on my size… I think i missed a lot of fun worrying about how I looked and what others would think if i let go and enjoyed myself. God Bless and may your life together be filled with many many wonderful moments of togetherness and fun!

  16. Katherine says:

Congratulations on your success and your marriage! I’m glad I re-found your blog. I stumbled on it a few months ago and am glad to see that you’re doing well and finding success with weight loss.

  17. Jkapp says:

Good luck with all the prep’s, but you have the most special thing already sorted, that is the love between you and the man you want to spend the rest of your life with - and honestly, there is nothing better than being there. Saying that, the wedding day will no doubt be a blast and you will make the most stunning looking bride.
As for Uk visit, I know you will just love it. Am not sure what your plans are for London but here are some small tips
    - Get to Brick Lane for a Curry
    - Try to get last minute theatre show - always tickets available - and don’t worry about theatre dinner deals, too many places to choose from
    - Covent Gardens - a great Canadian themed pub “The Maple Leaf”
    - Walk Oxford Street (amazing shopping)
    _ Walk Embakement
    - try to get to Hammersmith and walk down the river thames - some great pubs (The Dove and others)
_ Go north to find Camden Park markets
    - hop on hop off bus takes you to all central spots - the above are just afew slightly out the way places.
    - Maybe invest in an A to Z street directory
    - Last tip - its just as easy to walk around central london as it is to take the tube - places are not that far apart..

….arrrgghhh, have an absolute ball whatever you do. Best Wishes *
