Happy Trail Mix Day! It's 8:30 so you have three and half hours on the east coast to eat some trail mix. You won't regret it.
A couple of weeks ago Em from Bear Naked Granola emailed me asking if I'd try out their new line of trail mixes. Yes indeed. They came last week with a sweet hand written note just in time for an afternoon snack. Of course, I opened the chocolate one first. Check out what I got:
Thanks to Josh (ahem) I only have half a bag left, but I've had a chance to sample all of them. They are good. I never got trail mix, the idea of it. Dried fruit and nuts, but as I've aged and wised up I've come to love the combination. I do wish though that these bags had more nuts and granola balls. The chocolate is my favorite, the cocoa almonds, the balls of chewy chocolaty granola and cranberries, what's not to love? It goes perfectly on yogurt, or just out of the bag when you need a little something before dinner.
Have you tried Bear Naked Granola or trail mix? I first tried Bear Naked in NYC. I remember putting it in my FreshDirect cart thinking "ooh I'm eatin' my fancy pants granola" and it is fancy. You know how most store bought granolas have high fructose corn syrup or tons of sugar and other unmentionables? This stuff doesn't, hence the name and it's good.
So with my remaining half bag I'll have to take some photos this week to make this a proper review, but until then go celebrate the day with some trail mix!

That trail mix looks great and the name is fun too. I like a sweet-n-salty combo like salty nuts and raisins with some kind of chocolate.
I love gummi bears in my trail mix! My favorite thing is to mix gummi bears, M&Ms (the peanut butter kind) and peanuts together. I sneak a bag of that into the movies and I am in heaven!
My favorite trail mix ingredient for sure is peanuts. I love peanuts. You can have a simple mix of peanuts and raisins or a more complex mix with peanuts, almonds, raisins, craisins, dried bananas, chocolate chips. One of my favorites in college was peanuts, honey mustard pretzels, raisins, and gold fish crackers. Probably not the most healthy.
I love trail mix- especially because there are tons of different flavor options. To me it’s a great mid afternoon treat during those long weekday afternoons.
I would have to say that my favorite “healthy” trail mix addition is any type of mini dried fruit (apricot’s apples, craisins) and my not so “healthy” addition would be m&m’s (hmmmm maybe that is what gives me that “pick me up”
)
Dried cherries, almonds, chocolate, plus other things, but those are the high notes!
(*waving* hi – love the blog)
I just found your site and have read most of it in two days. It’s hard to read, because even though I weigh less than you, I spent so many years of my life playing the same game and hating myself for not doing it. You are a really pretty girl/woman (sorry, but I feel old tonight) and I hope that you can find peace and love for yourself. The only thing that has helped me so far is having a baby girl (I had my son first and that did me no good!). A therapist I once knew told me to talk to myself like I was talking to my child, and when I held my baby girl, I knew that I would never berate her with questions about why she had failed at something, or limit her food or pleasure. I also knew that I had to commit to getting healthy and moving away from my body and self-loathing. I’m not saying you can’t fix this without a baby, but maybe you can start by really being nice to yourself without qualification. You are a good person, it’s plan to see.
My favorite trail mix has dried pineapple, cranberries, cashews, almonds, and vanilla yogurt chips – sooo yummy
I really love the yogurt bits. Raisins are good too. I’m a big fan of any kind of trail mix really. It’s like a grab bag of goodies (minus the cashews).
Hi! I love chocolate chips and crystallized ginger in my trail mix. And something salty like cashews or walnuts. Yum
