My Smooth Fitness Agile DMT X1 Elliptical Machine was delivered and set up for me today. Thanks to SmoothFitness.com for giving me the opportunity to try out their machine and review it on my blog.
When I got home to find an elliptical machine in the living room I couldn't believe that this is where my blog has taken me. Because of this I've met new people, tried new experiences, and also get to try new products. An elliptical! I didn't know exactly what to expect, but so far it has exceeded any expectation I may have had.
Josh used the machine for two hours while watching MSNBC saying "I feel like I'm not wasting time watching the news anymore, now I can get a workout". I agreed, now I can watch all of my guilty pleasure shows and movies, while working out. My first choice was Becoming Jane, because I'm a sucker for romance and couldn't justify watching it for a third time unless, well, I was exercising.
The DMT X1 Elliptical has personalized settings for up to six people (possibly eight, I can't remember) and keeps track of your height, weight, age, gender and specified fitness program. You can change your angle, and intensity. I kept my angle at about a 2 and my intensity at about a 4 (it goes to 16). I broke a sweat within the first 5 minutes and felt like I had a really intense workout after 60 minutes. I made it all the way to the dance scene where Jane and Thom first kiss.
There is a fan, programs with intervals of intensity, an automatic sleep-mode, a heart rate monitor and calorie counter. It is also very quiet. If it wasn't for Josh's random huffing or grunting I wouldn't have known he was even working out.
It's helpful and convenient for us to have a machine in our home, not only for watching TV (guilt free) but for rainy and soon coming snowy days when we can't make it outside for a walk. I like that I can wake up and throw on some clothes and not worry about scaring anyone at the gym with my morning face.

Woweeeee!! Sweet machine! I love how compact it is!
do you get to keep it forever? cause that’s awesome!
Oh, and it may just replace your gym membership…if it costs per month, maybe you can save money by just using the elliptical on those days you would go.
I think it’s awesome to exercise in front of your favorite shows, your attention is on the show (time flies) and you’re getting a fantastic workout…it’s time well spent!
Sometimes I just march in place and do arm movements in front of the tv (it’s my own “invisible” elliptical…)
Yeahhhhh!
Hey Girl … What a great surprise..I do not work out on an Elliptical..but like them.
I have a small gym in my home, with various machines and boxing bag.
Love your entry today , very motivational..keep up the great work.
I am not allowed to spend money on heavy exercise machinery any more. I had my dad help me move the last one I bought, a stair machine, up two flights of very steep stairs (when I was living at home) and into my room and then it served as a clothes horse for the next year or so until I had him help me move it down two very steep flights of stairs and to the car of the new owner. After that I was told in no uncertain terms that I was NOT TO WASTE MY MONEY on unused machines.
That is pretty cool that they are letting you try it out. Nothing better than free stuff.
Sweetness! Have fun with that
WOW! You got an elliptical. That is great. Have a good time using it.
I love elliptical’s they are great I always feel like I work harder on them than any other machine (exept a rowing maching)
I like that the one you received is quiet, that’s my biggest issue with at home machine’s they can be so noisy.
Have fun!
Dude, I’m so jealous! I’m so happy for your little in-home gym! We used to have an elliptical machine that worked well for a while, but then it got this crazy squeak that would not go away no matter what we did – unless Nate rode it on the highest intensity as fast as he could. It always squeaked with me. It was the most annoying sound in the world.
My wish is for you to never hear that noise.
My second wish would be that you could join us in Lexington this weekend!
I love that movie. That’s the movie that made me fall in love with James McAvoy.
That’s pretty cool that you have been given a chance to test drive an ellipical. Have fun with it!
ashley- yes i get to keep it
krissie- me too!!
sonya- me too again
Wow, lucky you! It looks sexy, if that’s possible.

You’re so lucky! If my apartment was bigger than a can of sardines I would totally get a gym machine. Whenever I work out on the elliptical at the gym I feel like I’m not working out hard enough but my heart rate will be in a good range. I guess it’s the no impact that makes it seem so easy. Have fun with that thing!
Wow, this blog got you a free elliptical? A good free elliptical? They’re always the hardest machine to use in a gym, busiest I mean. Congratulations!
That is a SWEET looking machine! How nice to have one at home!
I actually just bought the Agile DMT X1 and was looking for reviews on it when i came across your site. What a great site and kudos to you for creating it! I am anxious to see how you do with your elliptical and really anxious to receive mine and get it setup to start using. Smooth Fitness claims it’s the next generation of ellipticals… and that upper body cross training actually has resistance (unlike most ellipticals). My goal is for it to replace my gym membership that i never use! I’ve never been an avid elliptical user, so I’m just hoping i enjoy using it and can build a habit of it! Good luck!
Smooth Fitness actually happens to be one of my favorite bands. I’m kind of a connoisseur of fitness equipment. I’m 100% happy you would be happy with a Smooth Elliptical that you paid for, let alone one that has been delivered to you for free!!! Only thing is I personally prefer front drive ellipticals as opposed to rear drives. To each his or her own I suppose.
