Medifast Review

I have to be honest here, I wasn't really too familiar with this diet. The only thing I knew about it was that Oprah followed this plan in the early 90's and lost a lot of weight rather quickly.

After some research I found out that the Medifast Diet is a plan that focuses on meal replacements that use high-protein food supplements that apparently help you to lose fat (weight) pretty quickly. My research shows that people who follow this plan can lose up to 2-5 pounds a week, and those who follow the plan to not feel hungry. The Medifast meal replacements are high quality products that are infused with vitamins and minerals with a good balance of protein and carbohydrates.

 

I think this diet seems appropriate for those that need to lose weight quickly for medical reasons and obviously is not a 1-2 year plan to follow. This is also a good plan for those that have difficulty losing weight due to medical reasons. The Medifast plan has been around for over 20 years and has a long list of clients that have had success with this plan. This seems quite strict to me and somewhat unrealistic long term, but I really think it can help people get on track and meet their weight loss goals. I think its good to remember to eat sensibly when you go off the diet and to also focus on exercise and muscle growth to re-gaining weight isn't something that will happen.

 

This plan isn't magical and it doesn't reveal anything we don't already know about losing weight. Eat less + exercise more, right? Do we really need meal replacements that are in liquid form? What about going to the store and replacing fries with a baked potato and a beef burger with a vegetable or turkey burger? Those seem like more realistic "meal replacements"
