Joan Holloway Inspired Plus Size Look

(click individual images for links)

Today's post is brought to you by Fat Bridesmaid. I sent out a tweet yesterday asking for fashion themes and within a couple of hours a had a whole list of ideas from her. Thanks Miranda!

You guys have seen Mad Men, right? Isn't Joan Holloway's character played by Christina Hendricks stunning? I haven't seen much of the show (we're still watching six feet under) but the 60's styling is incredible. I couldn't find her signature pen necklace, but found that she wears an assortment of gold necklaces on the show.

  • I love the blue dress in the collage. So beautiful!

      Hi,

The pen necklace is available for a great price at mybabyjo dot com. They also have similiar dresses to those shown on Mad Men.
And, I heard that Christina Hendricks does shop there from time to time.

  • I cannot begin to express how happy this post makes me! :D

  • Ali

I think she is the most beautiful actress in Hollywood right now.

  • I do love her style on the show and she’s so beautiful. Did you see the article on Jezebel.com yesterday? She’s now the “face” of London Fog, but apparently not the “body” because they photoshopped her body quite a bit. Sad, really.

  • YAY!

That blue dress is worth every penny of the $200 price tag. I might have to buy that one.

  • Love!

I am a huge Christina Hendricks fan and think this fashion collage is top notch–I especially love the bird pin.

So… you’re a talented artist. Why not MAKE the Joan Holloway signature necklace and put it for sale on your Etsy shop. I’d buy it!

  • Ooo, I love this! I’d like to incorporate some of her classy style into my work wardrobe. That might have to be a mini-goal of mine for the coming year.

I think it’s a great idea for you to make one for your shop, but if anyone is interested, 1928 Jewelry makes a pretty nice version of the pen necklace(and it’s fairly cheap, too!) — http://www.1928.com/1960s-vintage-inspired-gold-tone-pen-necklace.html :)

I love, love, love these mini look books you have been creating! They are style inspiration for any style!

Other looks that I found frustrating to find at a larger size: Walk in the Park Fall style (wide boots, leggings a warm sweater or jacket that didn’t add to much heft), Gym Cute (workout pants, capris, high performance material shirt/tank and a apres jacket that was a step-up from a hoodie),Saturday Night Out with the Girls (something that was trendy, showed skin/shape, sparkly and fun).

Keep up the great blogging effort! It has been great reading your posts.

  • Christina Hendricks is a beautiful women with great and incredibly sexy shape. I haven’t ever seen the show, but I remember how floored I was by her by her small appearances in Firefly.

There is a great replica of the pen necklace on amazon by 1928 jewelry company. I just ordered it to be joan holloway for my halloween party and as soon as I got it I knew it would become one of my favorite jewelry pieces. And it was only $20!
