Friday the 13th (Banana Nut Cheerios)

Happy Saint Valentine's eve! Do you guys have any plans for tomorrow? Originally we were supposed to go to Asheville, but had to postpone until next weekend because of some unexpected events we have to go to. No big deal, instead we're driving to Roanoke, staying the night and eating Indian food.

After Monday my eating improved so much and I've been feeling a lot better about it. Just get back up, its all you can do, right? I went to the gym Sunday, Wednesday and going again today. The weather has been incredible lately which is making me sad that I'm not taking advantage of it with a walk outside. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't slightly paranoid about walking out on our road. I shouldn't be. We live in a realtively remote road (I think) but people drive really fast here and there are a lot of blind curves. I should hear the car coming though. I'm rambling, but I know that if I really wanted to walk I would have walked, so its just an excuse.

Have you tried the new banana nut cheerios? Those things are so dangerous for me, I got called out (ahem, Josh) for eating the whole box in three days. They taste just like banana bread or fresh bananas in cereal. So good, if you try them, don't say I didn't warn you.

  • Hey! I’m going to be in Asheville next weekend too :)
We live in TN, about 3-4 hours west of Asheville. It’s my boyfriend’s 25th b-day, so I’m surprising him with the trip to celebrate. We’re staying at this super fancy shmancy looking b&b called The White Gate Inn – it’s pricey but we’re skipping Valentine’s Day and haven’t been eating out to compensate.
Plus I’m eating all the stuff in my pantry and freezer to cut down on the grocery bill (at least that’s why I’m telling myself I’ve been eating the house down) :-P

We’re going to try to work in a bike or hike Saturday or check out Biltmore if it’s raining. I found a friend of his he hasn’t seen in awhile who’s going to meet us with his wife for dinner. (Laughing Seed – been there? I’m happy he loves it because it’s an easy place for me to stay on plan)

He has a massage scheduled on Saturday, and then on Sunday I found a homebrew (beer) lesson/workshop for him, so we’re going to attend that and buy him some starter supplies. Should be fun! All he knows is that he needs to take a 1/2 day off work Friday.
Hope you have fun! It’s hands down the cutest city anywhere near our neck of the woods. I can’t wait!

  • I am sooooo jealous!! I went to massage school in Asheville and miss it terribly. I try to get back at least once a year but I didn’t make it there last year. So in my mind I am well overdue and deserve two trips. :) Have a wonderful time and may I suggest The Laughing Seed for a healthy and vegetarian restaurant choice. I am as carnivorous as they come but that place is delicious!
    Have fun!!

  • I JUST got back from the grocery store and saw the BN Cheerios for the first time. I contemplated, but decided the 12 boxes of cereal already in the house should hold me over for awhile!

  • Asheville is lovely. I met my mom there in November for the Christmas at the Biltmore display. I hope you get to go soon. We ate at the restaurant over by the winery and had some amazing winter squash soup and fish.

  • I live in Asheville, enjoy your trip!
